Artist’s Comments: Lady of July takes inspiration from the from the many festivals of July that celebrate freedom. From Bastille Day to America’s Independence Day, July is a time for free spirits and aspirations!
I also drew upon the imagery of the Tanabata star festival of Japan and Qixi of China which take place during this month. Both holidays celebrate the only time of year in which two celestial lovers are able to see each other.
